What is considered to be dangerously high blood pressure?

Susan Doss asked:

Mine has been running around 158/106 for the past few weeks and I’m already on blood pressure medication. I am concerned because I’ve been experiencing shortness of breath kinda like someone is sitting on my chest along with my heart racing. I’m only 31 but have high cholesterol as well. Heart disease runs in the family so I’m a little concerned. Any answers will help.

How to stop taking high blood pressure medication? Without killing yourself?

Joseph asked:

My grandmother takes high blood pressure medication, and is ready to stop taking it. Her blood pressure has dropped, and we found multiple ways to keep it down naturally, from a homeopathic doctor, and ourselves. What I want to know, is how can she stop taking the medication. I know it has to be done slowly and gradually, to avoid painfull, even fatal, symptoms.

Please help,
Thanks

High Blood pressure caused by anxiety during pregnancy?

C asked:

I’m 19 weeks pregnant and my Dr. has diagnosed me with high blood pressure. I have had a history of anxiety and panic attacks in the past, but never a problem with blood pressure. My main concern is that I have at home BP monitor and my blood pressure is fine at home, at the family dr, and everywhere else I go. I’ve tried to tell my Dr. that I have normal readings everywhere but her office but she seems to ignore that and has put me on BP medication. HAs anyone else ever dealt with this and what did you do? I’ve really been considering going back to the midwife that delivered my first child, although over an hour drive to get there, but I’m not even sure if she’ll take me if my current Dr. has considered me “high risk” with the blood pressure ordeal! Any advice on this would be great as I’m stressed to the max!
My Bp at the dr was 160/20, 140/20, and most recently 135/20. At my family Dr’s office within the same time frame was 123/70. and at home has been 117/59, 125/61, 110/60 etc.

When is it ok to come off of hypertension medication?

Gregory asked:

I didn’t have issues with high blood pressure until I got married or gained 65 lbs. Im not sure which is causing it because it varies from day to day. Ive lost about 70 lbs and im starting to get lightheaded a lot more and my blood pressure is a lot lower than it used to be. Im afraid that it might be getting too low and I can definately live without the side effects.
