Lots of people have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, and aren’t aware of it. In many cases, people with hypertension won’t have noticeable symptoms, so it’s best to get readings as often as possible. High blood pressure can have many causes, and we will be discussing some of these in this article.

High blood pressure is more common among older people, though it can afflict people of all ages. The typical age that men develop high blood pressure is younger than for women, but for both the risks increase in middle age.

As problems such as obesity spread, however, we are now seeing more hypertension among younger people as well. That’s why it’s a good idea to get regular checkups where your blood pressure is checked, especially if you are middle aged or older. Your age, of course, is only one risk factor for high blood pressure, and you have to consider your everyday habits as well.

If you consume too much alcohol, this can cause high blood pressure, among other problems. You may have heard that light drinking, of wine in particular, is good for your heart health, but this only refers to one or two drinks. However, it’s also true that people who consume more than two alcoholic beverages per day have a higher risk of health problems such as high blood pressure. And quite a few people are unable to drink in moderation. So if you are able to limit your intake of alcohol, light drinking may be good for your health, but more than this is harmful.

Medication and certain drugs may also contribute to high blood pressure. Stimulants of any kind, such as cocaine, are known to be dangerous to your blood pressure and heart. Many drugs that are prescribed, such as for depression or birth control, can also cause hypertension. Depending on the ingredients, lots of over the counter If you are prone to high blood pressure, then, research any medication you take and always read the labels. Anytime you suspect a drug or medicine is contributing to your high blood pressure, ask your doctor about it immediately.

One of the lesser known causes of high blood pressure is sleep apnea. This disorder is when a person stops breathing at frequent intervals during the night. People with sleep apnea often snore as well which is a symptom of obstructed breathing while asleep. Because you do not get restful sleep if you suffer from sleep apnea, you will tend to feel tired throughout the day. People who are overweight or who smoke are more prone to sleep apnea but the only way to diagnose it is by doing a sleep study at a sleep disorder center. Chronic sleep apnea can contribute to high blood pressure, as well as heart disease, so it’s important to find out if you have this problem. High blood pressure isn’t always noticed or diagnosed until it’s gone way beyond just hypertension which is why it is referred to as a silent killer. By having your doctor check your blood pressure regularly, and becoming familiar with the causes of hypertension, such as the ones we’ve been focusing on in this article, you can be in a better position to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure is a common but very serious medical condition that many people suffer from, often without even knowing about it. It’s a good idea to get regular checkups where your blood pressure is measured, as hypertension does not always have symptoms. If you are aware of the causes of high blood pressure it’s easier to avoid it, so we will now explore some of these.

Some people have underlying conditions such as adrenal or thyroid conditions that if left untreated can contribute to high blood pressure and hypertension. Hypertension can be caused as a result of a faulty thyroid or condition referred to as hypothyroidism wherein the thyroid isn’t producing the right amount of hormones. Problems in the adrenal gland can also cause your high blood pressure. The symptoms most related to thyroid issues or adrenal issues are fatigue, sudden weight gain, and joint pain. People don’t often realize they have these conditions for a large amount of time due to the fact that they can only be detected with medical tests. Taking a prescription medication regularly will reduce the symptoms.

Excessive alcohol consumption can be a cause of high blood pressure. Some people are confused because there is evidence that light drinkers are actually healthier than people who don’t drink at all, and it’s true that small amounts of alcohol may actually reduce your blood pressure. Yet evidence also shows that heavy drinking, of more than two glasses of an alcoholic beverage every day, has more negative than positive effects on your blood pressure and overall health. This issue is further complicated by the fact that many people have trouble limiting themselves when it comes to alcohol, and are better off abstaining. In other words, one or two drinks may be good for your blood pressure, but more than this has the opposite effect and should be avoided.

Sleep apnea is one of the lesser know causes of high blood pressure. This is a sleep disorder that makes it difficult to breathe normally when sleeping. Snoring, which is a symptom of obstructed breathing while sleeping, is often common among sleep apnea sufferers. Many sleep apnea sufferers are chronically tired because they are not getting restful sleep at night. Doing a sleep study at a sleep disorder center is the only way to diagnose this condition that mainly affects those that smoke and who are overweight. Finding out if you have this condition because sleep apnea can lead to high blood pressure and heart disease.

No matter what is causing hypertension, you should not underestimate how dangerous it can be. You should keep track of your blood pressure and ask your doctor for advice on how to control it. The causes and elements related to high blood pressure are varied, and we’ve only had room to cover a few of them. You can find a way to control your blood pressure, and with the help of your doctor you can figure out a plan that will lead to a healthier future.

Sometimes what we do not know could destroy you, and yet placing know-how into action steps could help save your own life. Understand about hypertension and exactly what the numbers represent for you.

Everyone has and requires blood pressure. Bear in mind, high blood pressure levels, otherwise known as hypertension, is actually a potentially serious health issue. As reported by the American Heart Association, 74.5 million U.S. grown ups have already been clinically determined to have high blood pressure levels. Though it generally doesn’t have any indicators and symptoms, high bp can have dangerous health-related consequences if not addressed. Surely, uncontrolled high blood pressure may possibly hurt or maybe kill you. It’s actually sometimes labeled as “the silent killer” due to the fact that high blood pressure is free of indicators and symptoms, so you are quite possibly not conscious that it may be harming your arteries and heart as well as other internal organs.

Prospective Medical Consequences because of Going above Standard Blood Pressure Range

Possible physical health effects that may transpire in the long term when ever high blood pressure is left unattended include:

* Wear and tear to the heart muscle not to mention coronary arterial blood vessels, including cardiac arrest, coronary disease, congestive heart failure (i.e., CHF), aortic dissection and atherosclerosis (unhealthy buildups in the arterial blood vessels that induce them to harden)

* Stroke

* Renal deterioration

* Eyesight impairment

* Erectile dysfunction

* Memory loss

* Fluid inside the lungs

* Angina

But remember, these aren’t symptoms of exceeding normal blood pressure range. High blood pressure is a symptomless disease aside from in its most extreme events labeled as hypertensive crisis. When blood pressure levels rise to 180 or above for your systolic – top – number OR 110 or higher for the diastolic – bottom – number, call for emergency medical treatment right away.

Individuals whose blood pressure range is above 140/90 mm Hg (140 systolic or higher OR 90 diastolic or over) frequently become patients treated for severe cardiovascular issues. 69% of people in the US that have a first cardiac arrest have blood pressure ranges over 140/90 and 74% of people in America with CHF have blood pressure ranges over 140/90.

The Main Factor to Protecting against or Suppressing Your Abnormal Blood Pressure Range

The initial step in protecting against and managing high blood pressure range is to educate yourself on the answers to a few questions, along the lines of:

* Exactly what is high blood pressure levels, and additionally exactly what goes on within the person’s system which makes it dangerous?

* Exactly what are considered the factors of risk for high blood pressure, and also precisely what are the risk lowering and treatment solutions?

* Just what do a person’s numbers from the blood pressure reading signify?

* In which cases would elevated blood pressure require emergency medical treatment?

* At what time is blood pressure range too low?

* How do I get on the road to controlling a high blood pressure range?

Hypertension can result in major health problems. But nevertheless, these potential outcomes might motivate you to look after your arteries and live a healthier life.

Pulmonary hypertension is a reasonably uncommon problem with approximately fifteen out of every one million individuals presently living with the disease. Although this is not a particularly high number when compared to some long-term disorders, we still recommend that people should be able to spot pulmonary hypertension signs.

Since there are lots of causes it can be challenging to identify if you are vulnerable and, left untreated, the average period of survival is somewhere between two and three years. If you are clinically diagnosed, however, there are numerous treatments to choose from that could allow you to carry on living a long and fulfilling life.

Pulmonary hypertension is actually a lung disease that has an effect on the pulmonary arterial blood vessels running from your lungs to the right ventricle of your heart. These arterial blood vessels become narrow, which makes it hard for blood to circulate correctly and dramatically raising blood pressure levels. The stress of hypertension causes your heart’s right ventricle to become enlarged and, gradually, weakened. Right heart failure occurs when the right section of your heart becomes too weak to push a sufficient amount of blood to the lungs.

Whilst no age group, nationality, gender or ethnic culture is completely exempt, women are two times as likely to be affected by pulmonary hypertension as men are. Some forms are passed on genetically, so you may also be at high risk if your family unit has a history of the problem. Pulmonary hypertension may also be attributable to many other medical conditions.

The signs and symptoms of pulmonary hypertension might not be noticeable before the ailment is reasonably advanced and you should recognize them when they appear so you can visit a medical practitioner for diagnosis and treatment.

The earliest symptom to present itself is normally difficulty breathing during a mild exertion like brisk walking or climbing steps. As time passes, you may start to notice tiredness, dizziness, fainting, abnormal or racing pulse, chest pain and an unproductive cough. As your heart gets to be more stressed, you could notice puffiness in your ankles and legs, along with a blue tinge to your skin tone, particularly round the mouth area.

Symptoms can be quite severe in the late phases of pulmonary hypertension, making it tricky for you to complete any kind of physical activity. In extreme cases, you can even find it difficult to inhale and exhale when lying flat. That said, not everyone suffers every single symptom. If you worry that you may possibly be affected by pulmonary hypertension we highly recommend seeing a doctor immediately.

A problem that is ever increasing, due to more people lacking good exercise and gaining weight, is high blood pressure. While this is a serious health problem, it can often be reversed by making some lifestyle changes and improving your diet. The following tips, can help to lower your blood pressure.

One herbal treatment for high blood pressure is hawthorn. Hawthorn berries, leaves and flowers are all used in various herbal medications that are good for the heart and can help lower your blood pressure too. People with heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat can often be helped by taking hawthorn berry, either as a tea or in supplement form. Talk to your doctor about the best dosage and form of hawthorn you should take if you want to use it to manage your blood pressure or to lower it. Hawthorn is a very helpful herb, as it widens the arteries and improves blood flow from the heart, which can be useful in lowering blood pressure as well as preventing heart disease.

If you are a smoker you need to quit immediately because doing so is the best way to lower your blood pressure. Smoking has many health risks, the best known being lung cancer and other lung related illnesses. However, smoking also contributes to high blood pressure and heart disease, as it can harden the arteries and create blockages. It is never too late to quit smoking (this has been proven) and you will start to see an improvement as soon as you quit. Quitting smoking is not easy, of course, especially if it’s a long term habit, but if you want to lower your blood pressure and improve your general health, it’s worth the effort.

If you have very high blood pressure, or your hypertension is the result of another medical condition, you may need medication prescribed by your doctor. Most of the time you are able to lower your blood pressure with natural remedies but if it is at a dangerous level, your doctor should treat it right away. Another case where medical attention is needed is women whose blood pressure rapidly increases during pregnancy. Blood pressure meds can help you get your blood pressure level to lower which will allow you to focus on caring for your blood pressure naturally to make sure that it doesn’t go back up again.

Another great remedy, that is also available in multiple forms, is garlic. Eating whole cloves of garlic may be the easiest method for ingesting garlic, however, many people shy away from this. This is often disliked due to the strong taste of garlic as well as the bad breath that comes with it. You can however find many good supplements that give you the benefits of garlic without the bad breath or bad taste. Be sure and discuss taking garlic with your doctor if you are taking prescription drugs, especially blood thinners. Nature has many natural remedies for high blood pressure exist and garlic is one of them. To sum up, high blood pressure is very serious and lots of things contribute to it. However, typically it is the result of personal choices and certain lifestyle habits which means that you can usually control it through natural remedies like being more active and taking certain kinds of supplements. This article has outlined some of the remedies you can use to treat your hypertension. In the long run, however, your blood pressure and overall health is largely the result of choices you make every day.

Though your blood pressure will go up and down throughout the day dependent upon what you are doing, your pressure should nonetheless continue to be in a standard range. For the growing number of individuals who have had a problem with their blood pressure regular daily checking along with a good idea of blood pressure level ranges is crucial.

Low pressure typically ranges from 50 to 90 mm Hg for a systolic level and from 30 to 60 mm Hg for a diastolic level. Ordinary systolic pressure is usually from 110 to 130 mm Hg while normal diastolic pressure is from 75 to 85 mm Hg. A high systolic reading may be from 140 to 210 mm Hg and a high diastolic level may be from 90 to 120 mm Hg.

There are lots of variables which will impact a good blood pressure range including your age and gender. For example, males are a lot more susceptible to high blood pressure than women whilst both women and men will experience increasing blood pressure as they grow older and their blood vessels loose their elasticity.

The only way to check out if you’re keeping within an appropriate blood pressure range is by means of routine checking as this is one particular disorder which rarely if ever demonstrates any signs or symptoms until it is too late to do anything about it. Happily, measuring your blood pressure now is extremely easy and there are plenty of relatively inexpensive and simple to operate automatic blood pressure monitors which are specifically designed for use while in the comfort of your own residence.

One important thing to keep in mind when measuring your own blood pressure level is that you should do so at the same time every day and in exactly the same conditions. For many individuals this suggests taking a measurement each and every morning right after you get up as well as perhaps once more in the late afternoon or evening after getting back from work. If you have problems measuring your own blood pressure then see if you can arrange for a member of the family, a neighbor or perhaps a buddy to help out.

There are numerous home monitors you can get and you should identify the best method for you and look for a device that fits within the price range you can afford. Whichever instrument you ultimately choose the key point here is that you appreciate the significance of checking your blood pressure level on a regular basis and have an understanding of low, normal and high blood pressure ranges against which to compare your own personal measurements.

Explore a great deal more than just the answer to the question of what should your blood pressure be and find out how home blood pressure monitors will help to keep tabs on your health along with that of your family.

Even after you have visited your doctor and had your blood pressure measured you may still come away wondering just what your blood pressure should be. Blood pressure readings vary from person to person and are affected by all sorts of different things. As a result, it is fair to say that there really is no such thing as a normal blood pressure. However, there is such a thing as an average blood pressure which we can use as a basis for calculating your own normal pressure and this is a pressure of 120 over 80. More importantly, there is also an average point at which high blood pressure or hypertension starts and that is 140 over 90.

Normal blood pressure changes from one individual to the next. If, for instance, you are suffering from a medical condition such as heart disease then you may generally maintain a pressure of 130 over 80 and your your doctor may be happy to accept this as being normal for you. He may also put you on medication and recommend a change in diet and an exercise plan to maintain this pressure if necessary.

Hypertension is a serious medical condition which, even by itself, can increase you risk of suffering a stroke or heart attack significantly. You need therefore to establish what your normal pressure reading should be and this is best done in consultation with your health care provider. Thereafter, you must check your pressure readings regularly if you are to know whether or not you are keeping within an acceptable range.

If your pressure is near normal but beginning to increase then your doctor may simply recommend a program of diet and exercise to correct the problem. As little as 20 or 30 minutes of exercise 3 or 4 times a week and a sensible eating plan can have a marked effect on your blood pressure. In some people the intake of sodium can affect your pressure significantly and your physician may recommend you reduce your salt intake immediately.

A major advancement in tackling the problem of high blood pressure has been the introduction of the DASH diet. This diet focuses its attention on a range of healthy food including fish and poultry, along with vegetables and fruit.

Speak with your health care provider and agree on just what normal blood pressure for you is. Then, start to check your pressure daily using one of the many excellent blood pressure monitors available today. If your pressure does start to creep up then take action immediately to correct it and don’t be afraid to seek further advice from your doctor if you are at all worried.

Learn far more than merely what the answer to the question what should your blood pressure be is and the benefits nowadays of using a home blood pressure monitor to keep an eye on your overall health.

High blood pressure is a problem that’s increasing in the modern world as more people are overweight and don’t get enough exercise. Even though this is a serious health problem, often the most effective way to reverse it is through improvements in your diet and and changes to your lifestyle. Here we will discuss some remedies that can lower your blood pressure.

One of the most effective ways to fight high blood pressure is with exercise. Lots of people spend too much time being sedentary and this leads to lots of problems like obesity, heart disease and high blood pressure. Talk to your doctor before you begin an exercise routine and, if you haven’t worked out regularly before, it is important to start slowly. It’s possible for you to start at whatever level is natural to you, even something as simple as going for a daily walk. The actual form of exercise you do isn’t as important as how regularly you do it. If you want to naturally lower your blood pressure and raise your overall health level, regular exercise is one way to do that. You may be able to reduce your blood pressure by learning how to relax and let go of stress. Anger and anxiety as well has high stress levels have been shown to contribute to high blood pressure and impacting your health. One of the many ways to help you reduce your stress levels includes habit changes. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, for example, this can lead to stress and many health problems, including high blood pressure. For those with super busy schedules you will want to be intentional about finding time to enjoy your favorite leisure activities as well as time to relax. It’s also a good idea not to let yourself get upset over things you can’t control, such as people you work with, traffic, politics and whatever else may be bothering you. Since stress levels affect your blood pressure levels, it is important for you to lower your stress.

You can also lower your blood pressure by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. In spite of being told this advice quite a lot, many people continue to eat diets with lots of meats, sweets and carbohydrates. If you add a variety of fresh vegetables, such as green leafy vegetables, cabbage, asparagus and celery, and fruits such as blueberries, mango, currant and pomegranate, you will be getting lots of healthy nutrients that can help to lower your blood pressure. You may also want to include a blend of “superfruits,” such as acai, noni, mangosteen or goji.

In addition to this, be sure to get lots of water. You’ll find that these steps can improve your health, and you’ll also have less room for junk foods. You can lower your blood pressure through drinking lots of water and eating fruits and vegetables.

Sure your blood pressure might be difficult to lower but you won’t be able to do it at all if you don’t take the right advice. For the most part, what you need to do is make some changes in important areas of life: eating right, getting more exercise and cutting stress. You can use all of these tips to help you reduce your blood pressure–but only if you do it consistently.

Hypertension can be a befuddling situation for both patient and medical professional alike. For one thing, there are different distinct physical symptoms of high blood pressure. And secondly, it shares many symptoms with other diseases or conditions. So as you can see, every doctor must conduct a thorough examination of each patient in every check-up, including the routine blood pressure check.

In many cases, a patient would visit their doctor for a certain illness, only to be told that the root of it all is high blood pressure. Undiagnosed hypertension can affect all the major organs of the body, including the heart, kidneys and liver. It is also capable of affecting vision and causing strokes.

The physical symptoms of high blood pressure can include giddiness, headaches, blurry vision, tremors, convulsions and difficulty in walking or exerting oneself and clinical depression, among other things.

Difficulty in even minor physical exertion and unusual tiredness may be signs of cardiac damage from high blood pressure. Other signs that may manifest themselves include unusually deep breathing and sweating. This is a serious situation and calls for immediate medical attention.

Regarding the above instances of kidney damage, this is highlighted by frequent trips to the bathroom and painful urination. Loss of electrolytes and dehydration can lead to a dull complexion.

Lesions may form in the ocular region, which causes vision problems due to high blood pressure. If left untreated, it can cause loss of vision.

But again, these symptoms are common to so many other illnesses that many doctors miss out on the main cause. Doctors need to look for underlying causes that may be related to high blood pressure. Comprehensive testing may be necessary to zero in on the real problem.

In the event of organ damage, it is common for doctors to fail to spot the real underlying cause, that being hypertension, or high blood pressure. Blood pressure checks are done for many illnesses in order to avoid false diagnosis.

Many symptoms of hypertension are common symptoms to those of diabetics. Some are even similar to that of a person who is heavily drunk! In fact, there have been cases where hypertension was not detected or treated because it was assumed that the symptoms were induced by alcohol.

There are many physical symptoms of high blood pressure that could lead to bigger, more serious health concerns. If you have any one of the symptoms above, visit your doctor post-haste and get yourself checked up!

Achieve peak physical condition with these weight training tips.

Using home blood pressure monitors while also keeping records of measurements is a great way to ensure health. By organizing these details they can be presented to doctors for evaluations of medications and for overall monitoring of health. There are two main models of monitors readily available on the market: digital or aneroid. Anyone can use either, depending on what they personally prefer.

Home monitoring is great as it can be done several times each day at an individuals convenience. This alerts doctors and patients to daily changes and help determine how effective a medication may be. It can also help notify a patient to any changes as they occur and therefore help with future management. The monitors provide information that individuals can use to learn to recognize problems.

The main types of equipment for measuring are aneroid and digital monitors. Aneroid versions work by placing its cuff upon the upper arm and manually inflating it by squeezing its bulb. Then readings are found on an accompanying dial gauge. Digital versions are either automatic or manual. Readings can be found on a small display screen.

Aneroid machines are great because they are easily carried and transported. The cuff is combined with the stethoscope so additional equipment is not needed. Aneroid machines are typically cheaper and have price tags at fifty dollars or less. However, they have some disadvantages too. They are more complex, very fragile, and cuffs require significant force to use. The hearing impaired may experience difficulties because they cannot hear the heart using the stethoscope.

The advantages of the digital machines are they are automatic and pressure measurements display on a screen. Some may even print out the records of each reading so they are easily organized and kept on file. The stethoscope and gauge are combined and come with error indicators. Deflation occurs automatically. Cuff inflation can also be automatic or manual, if preferred. This monitor type is great for hearing-impaired patients because the heart beat does not need listening to with a stethoscope. Drawbacks are that its accuracy changes as a patient moves or if he or she has an irregular beating heart. It also needs batteries to function and is more pricey, ranging up to a hundred dollars.

To operate aneroid monitors put the pieces of the stethoscope into the ears in the right positioning. Stethoscope disks should be put on the inner region of the elbow. Then inflate the cuff to around 40 points higher than the normal readings for systolic pressure. Make sure to inflate it quickly as accuracy is compromised if done too slowly. Then loosen the valve so it deflates at about 3 millimeters each second. When the first heartbeat sounds check the pressure with the pointer at the dial. This is the measurement for systolic pressure.

Keep deflating the cuff while listening to the beat of the heart. As it momentarily stops again check dial readings. This number represents diastolic pressure. Write down the two numbers, systolic followed by diastolic and separated with a slash mark. Wait three minutes before taking another measurement.

For digital monitors put the cuff on the arm, turn on the power, and start the machine. It should self inflate with the push of a button for automatic versions. It will then slowly reduce its pressure. Look at the display screen for the final readings and then write these down. Then press the exhaust button so the rest of the air is released from the cuff. Three minutes must pass before measuring again.

Using home blood pressure monitors is easy to do and gives a lot of useful information. Much more detailed record keeping can be kept than from through doctors visits. Readings can be completed many times each day to check daily variation and the overall effectiveness of medications.
