I went to the doctor today and the first BP taken was 140/80. The second was 127/82. The doctor insisted that my blood pressure was too high, but then said that my cholesterol is near perfect. Is it common to have high BP but normal cholesterol? Is 140 considered extremely high?
Is it common to have high blood pressure but not cholesterol?

Blood Pressure?
Isn’t 40mg of Lisinopril too much to prescribe for someone just diagnosed with Stage 1 Hypertension?
Blood pressure during pregnancy?
I am 34 weeks 3 days along and yesterday at my prenatal my dr. took my blood pressure and it was a bit high and she took it again and it had gone down some… she told me to come back in a week so she could check it again because at the appt before this she took my bp three times before getting a low one….
I’ve been monitoring my resting blood pressure at home and just now I took it on my right arm and then my left…. the right arm gave a reading of 126/81 and my left 113/60…. that seems like a drastic difference for the tests being like a minute apart… my blood pressure seems to be EVERYWHERE when I do take it…. are those readings too high for a resting bp?
Also, silly question, but could a bra that is not supportive enough contribute to a high bp? And how in the world can I avoid stress? My husband is job-hunting and funds are getting low and on top of that my 18 year old brother is having major problems with my family =(
And I **** when housework goes undone…
Current blood pressure: 170/105. Do I need to go to the ER?
It’s usually around 140/90, but none of my doctors have ever prescribed meds to manage it.
Over the last week, I’ve not felt so good, so I’ve begun to monitor my BP at home. Within the last few days, its been around 170/105.
I’m trying to get in to see one of my docs in the next few days, but is this BP high enough to need to make a trip to the ER?
Blood pressure averages?
My bp has been creeping up slightly, my doctor suggested I buy a bp monitor that automatically inflates itself so I can log my readings.
But should I keep track of averages on a daily, weekly or monthly basis?
Do blood pressure averages mean anything or is it just individual readings that count?
Has anyone postpartum hypertension even when bp was perfect before delivery?
Two days before giving birth my BP was 120/80. Three days after birth it was 190/107. My OBG and primary can’t give me a straight answer on why this is happening. The closest answer I received was having a traumatic labor. Which is true, the pain was worse than it was with my other two kids. I am on Procardia XL 30 mg and I am watching my sodium intake. Going on 7 weeks post partum and it is finally going down, but does anyone know why this happened??
Blood pressure 219/166 in ankle?
The blood pressure in my arms is normal, 115/70 is average when I’m relaxed. But I’ve had some minor swelling in my ankles the doctor ruled out all serious causes and said if I lose 50 lbs it will go away. Fair enough. So I got a new blood pressure monitor and start tinkering with it and notice that when standing the BP in my ankle was an astonishing 219/166. I know that if the extremity is below the heart it will be falsely high, but damn…THAT high?
Can Zyrtec, Allegra or Nasonex cause high blood pressure?
I have been having some pretty serious allergies this summer and fall, that have led to ear infections and blockages. My blood pressure has always been normal, but the last few weeks it is very high, 160/110 to 150/91 range. The only big change in me is that I have been taking Zyrtec and Nasonex, and that was changed last week when they noticed the bp problem to Allegra and Nasonex. I just don’t feel right. Have a followup with the doc this Friday, and we will do a more thourough workup to see what is going on. I stopped taking the drugs because of the BP thing just today, and the pressure in my ear is painful again. Anybody had a connection between these types of meds and high blood pressure resulting from their use?
