What food should a person with low blood pressure eat?

A question from I love you.: What food should a person with low blood pressure eat?
I have orthostatic hypotension what should I have? my blood pressure often gets really low, what other steps should I take?

My chosen answer:

Answer by Cynthia Leighton
You really need to talk to your own medical professional about this – you may be referred to a dietician or nutritionist.

In terms of other steps?

1/ When it dips suddenly in the heat while you are walking, sit down, even if that means on the ground. Beats hitting it unconscious. Wear a wide brim light hat when you’re in the heat on a sunny day.

2/ Stay hydrated. Drink the right amount of water for your body.

3/ Stay in balance for electrolytes/salts and all – ask your doctor!

4/ When you have your blood drawn, ask to use the lying down position. Beats the floor.

What could be the cause of low blood pressure, two blood transfusions?

low blood pressure
by wallyg

A question from sylver_shine: What could be the cause of low blood pressure, two blood transfusions?
My grandma is 72 years old. She is a diabetic, on blood thinners, and had heart surgery (replaced valve) 6 years ago. She had low blood pressure and had to have two blood tranfusions within the last three months. I’m thinking the doctors will recommend a bone marrow biopsy next. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? Any ideas as to what it could be?

What is the normal blood pressure reading for a 42 yr old female?

Question posed by its never easy: What is the normal blood pressure reading for a 42 yr old female?
I saw a nurse at my local heath centre today and she gave me a reading of 191/70. She did say it was on the low side of normal. Is this correct or might I have misheard her. I just think the top reading is a bit high?

Top answer:

Answer by Lori
191/70 is VERY high. I would see your doctor and have your blood pressure checked again.the normal range is 120/80.

intensive care sleep EKG and SpO2 monitoring

Of the huge number of videos available about blood pressure monitoring here is one which I particularly liked.

i finally got a monitor that has an SpO2 (pulse oximetry) module as well… so you can not only see my EKG, but also my respiratory frequency AND oxygen saturation! =) i also got a NIBP (non-invasive blood pressure) module, but it’ll be about two weeks until i have the fitting adapter for it. then i will be able to monitor EKG, RESP, SpO2, NIBP. yay! \o/

Blood pressure monitoring is essentially standardied worldwide, measured in Hgmm (millimeters of mercury). Your blood pressure should be the same no matter where you are geographically.
