Can high blood pressure and cholesterol cause pain all over my body?

Question posed by Natalie: Can high blood pressure and cholesterol cause pain all over my body?
I have high blood pressure and cholesterol in which I take medication for both. I experience constant pain all over my entire body espesially in my back and neck and it is all the time and have had this for the last few months the worse. I was not injured so I am wondering if those problems could cause pain or if it could be something else.

I you say you have pain in your back, make sure its not the kidneys. Do you drink alcohol often? It can lead to fermentation and blood pressure pills and stuff dont work well with that. Causes stifness of the body and pain in muscles. So check what you drink and eat.

Finding Causes of High Blood Pressure And Treating Them

Lots of people have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, and aren’t aware of it. In many cases, people with hypertension won’t have noticeable symptoms, so it’s best to get readings as often as possible. High blood pressure can have many causes, and we will be discussing some of these in this article.

High blood pressure is more common among older people, though it can afflict people of all ages. The typical age that men develop high blood pressure is younger than for women, but for both the risks increase in middle age.

As problems such as obesity spread, however, we are now seeing more hypertension among younger people as well. That’s why it’s a good idea to get regular checkups where your blood pressure is checked, especially if you are middle aged or older. Your age, of course, is only one risk factor for high blood pressure, and you have to consider your everyday habits as well.

If you consume too much alcohol, this can cause high blood pressure, among other problems. You may have heard that light drinking, of wine in particular, is good for your heart health, but this only refers to one or two drinks. However, it’s also true that people who consume more than two alcoholic beverages per day have a higher risk of health problems such as high blood pressure. And quite a few people are unable to drink in moderation. So if you are able to limit your intake of alcohol, light drinking may be good for your health, but more than this is harmful.

Medication and certain drugs may also contribute to high blood pressure. Stimulants of any kind, such as cocaine, are known to be dangerous to your blood pressure and heart. Many drugs that are prescribed, such as for depression or birth control, can also cause hypertension. Depending on the ingredients, lots of over the counter If you are prone to high blood pressure, then, research any medication you take and always read the labels. Anytime you suspect a drug or medicine is contributing to your high blood pressure, ask your doctor about it immediately.

One of the lesser known causes of high blood pressure is sleep apnea. This disorder is when a person stops breathing at frequent intervals during the night. People with sleep apnea often snore as well which is a symptom of obstructed breathing while asleep. Because you do not get restful sleep if you suffer from sleep apnea, you will tend to feel tired throughout the day. People who are overweight or who smoke are more prone to sleep apnea but the only way to diagnose it is by doing a sleep study at a sleep disorder center. Chronic sleep apnea can contribute to high blood pressure, as well as heart disease, so it’s important to find out if you have this problem. High blood pressure isn’t always noticed or diagnosed until it’s gone way beyond just hypertension which is why it is referred to as a silent killer. By having your doctor check your blood pressure regularly, and becoming familiar with the causes of hypertension, such as the ones we’ve been focusing on in this article, you can be in a better position to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.

How do I find out if my mother has high blood pressure or low blood pressure?

low blood pressure
by zJMac

A question asked by Aint No Bugs On Me: How do I find out if my mother has high blood pressure or low blood pressure?
She’s lying in bed right now, unable to get up because if she does her head will spin and she will be so dizzy and nauseous that she will want to lie back down. She’s only 51 years old, and I’m quite worried about her.
These are her symptoms:
-dizziness
-nausea
-from time to time head hurts; it’s the kind of hurting like your skull’s too small and is tight on your brain
-a little congestion
-head spins

She says that it’s only in the head; nothing is wrong with her other parts. Please say if it is low blood pressure or high blood pressure. IF YOU DON’T KNOW, DON’T SAY ANYTHING. I DON’T WANT MY MOTHER TO SUFFER BECAUSE SOMEONE GUESSED.
Only people who know what they’re talking about answer, PLEASE. Thank you very much
Yes she smiles plenty and when she speaks she sounds like she has a cold or she had a bad night =)

P.S. She’s walking around now and making tea. Her smile is crooked but she said it’s always been crooked, and she’s not weak, but her heart is beating rapidly.

Diastolic Reading High on Blood Pressure?

Question posed by Shaylee: Diastolic Reading High on Blood Pressure?
My blood pressure reading yesterday was 120/92. My diastolic reading has been high for awhile now. My doctor has yet to do anything about it. I’m a 18 year old female, what should I do to get this # back down. Should I be concerned.

Selected answer:

Answer by Hey
I don’t think that you should be concerned….I really wouldn’t be very worried as long as your not in the 100′s!! If you wanted to lower it you could always exercise and watch what you eat, low sodium foods. Good luck, but that really isn’t very high I wouldn’t be too worried, again just small life style changes could fix it. (mine is much worse…like 100-120′s on the bottom, but mine is b/c of my kidneys lol, so lifestyle change would do less for that)

What steps can I take to lower my blood pressure reading before a test?

Question posed by Pistol Pete: What steps can I take to lower my blood pressure reading before a test?
I’m 27 and healthy. In the past I have had random high blood pressure readings that could never be fully explained. I’m sure anxiety played a role. I have a physical for a job in two days and I was wondering what sort of things to do or not do between now and then to ensure I don’t have a high readibg. i.e what foods to eat, how long to eat before, ect. Any advice would be appriciated. Thank you

Is blood pressure of 122/70 OK for a 28 yr old?

Question by LORI: Is blood pressure of 122/70 OK for a 28 yr old?
I got my blood pressure checked for the first time in a while last week. Is 122/70 OK for a 28 year old? It’s kind of hard to tell from the charts but it looks like a number over 120 for the systolic might be getting kind of high, or is it over 130?
A lot of people in my family have high blood pressure so I’m wondering if I should try to lower mine a bit?

Chosen answer:

Answer by Dr. W
It’s fine. A couple years ago they redefined “prehypertension” to be 120-139 on the top number, but honestly, if we as physicians and patients got worked up over a 122 we’d never get anything else done. We don’t think about medication until the top number is 140 when you are otherwise healthy. To summarize, don’t worry, just do your best to keep up a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a normal weight.
