What would my blood pressure monitor have to read before my blood pressure is considered dangerously low? Give me diastolic and the systolic numbers, please.

    The numbers are very individual; what’s good for one person is not good for another.

    It used to be that 120/80 was “normal”. Now, most cardiologists consider 120/80 as mildly hypertensive. The lower the number the better……up to a certain point.

    The systolic (top number) should be at least 100 mm Hg. This ensures that your kidneys perfuse correctly and toxins and waste products are filtered correctly in the nephrons.

    The bottom number is a little less relevant, however if it gets >90 to 100 mm Hg, then are real problem exists; this number (diastolic) indicates the pressure of the blood in the vessels between heartbeats.
