my mum who is 45 has just been told she has high blood pressure. She is cutting out salt and losing weight and doing really well. I just wanted to know if anyone knows any low salt and fat snacks other than fruit and veg for the occasional treat!

    A small amount of nuts (20 to 30 macadamia nuts have been found to be beneficial) – they are high in fat, the better fat I’ll add, but keep them to a minimum.

    Some rice crackers, maybe with some low fat cheese. Again small amount.

    Yoghurt.

    Flat bread or vegie sticks with a low fat “dip” type thing like salsa or hommus.

    I’ve had great success with the 9th law diet. I’ve lost 51 pounds so far, dropped my blood pressure to a normal level, and still going strong. It’s free and the professor who designed it actually answers my email questions.
    It works for me, as well as a couple of the people I work with.
