I’ll quote from a pocket guide I carry in the ambulance, BP for a child 6 to 13 years is 92 to 134 over 64 to 80 to be within normal range. Variables would include size.

Children at the age of 11 should run around 90/50-110/60… They should have a signifigantly lower BP than an adult because the heart should be super healthy, there should be no plaque buildup on the walls of the arteries, therefore the pressure should be low. I have seen children run as low as 70/50 and that was considered perfectly normal. A child should not run like an adult such as 120/80 would be considered high for an 11 year old.

*** One thing to note,,, sometimes children are terrified to be at the doctors office, so their pressure goes up due to nerves and fear, at the office I work at, if we get a high reading, we don’t worry, we have the child relax and check the pressure again after the visit (once all the scary stuff is done, LOL :)

Your doctor will give you two numbers as a measure of blood pressure. A typical ‘normal’ blood pressure reading is 120 / 80 mm Hg (millimeters of mercury). Blood pressure normally varies during the day. It rises during activity such as walking, running and decreases with rest.

The top number (120) is Systolic pressure: It is the amount of pressure your heart generates when pumping blood out through your arteries. This creates the heart beat that you can hear or feel. The bottom number (80) is Diastolic pressure: It is the amount of pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest (between the beats).
