A question from Disinterested: What can I do to combat low blood pressure besides drinking coffee?
I have low blood pressure and it leaves me feeling tired constantly even when I’m well rested. Coffee seems to wake me up for like 20 minutes and then I feel even more tired than before I drank it.

Increasing your daily water intake can help. Coffee is a diuretic and removes water from your body, thus lowering your blood pressure even more. If you are not physically fit, starting an exercise program may reduce your fatigue each day – walking is easiest. And, a slight increase in your salt intake will cause some water retention which can also raise your blood pressure slightly. Your doctor should be helping you with your symptoms.

Also consume Vitamin E with “Mixed Tocopherols”. Very important that the product you purchase contain tocopheROLS……
This type of vitamin will increase your BP.
Hope this helps…
If you have low blood pressure, your doctor may recommend certain steps to prevent or reduce your symptoms. This may include:
* Avoiding alcohol
* Avoiding standing for a long time (if you have NMH)
* Drinking plenty of fluids
* Getting up slowly after sitting or lying down
* Using compression stockings to increase blood pressure in the legs
eat meals at regular times

Are you absolutely sure you do have low blood pressure?
There are other reasons for feeling tired, you need to get a firm diagnosis from your doctor.
Re hypotension…
In some European countries doctors used powerful drugs to treat the symptoms of hypotension but this approach never really took root in the USA or in the UK. Patients with hypotension symptoms often simply had to adapt their lives to try to cope with them. No one seemed able to give clear advice on how to raise BP levels in those who suffered from it.
There is general information and advice on the link, but you do need to know if low blood pressure (which is often considered an asset) is the cause of your lethargy.
It could be anaemia, stress, an autoimmune disease.
Please do talk to your doctor.
