Low blood pressure as a teenage athlete? Confused?

blood pressure miracle

Washington Sports Fan asked:

Hey guys,

So I’m an 18 yr old Af. American male and I had my physical like 3 days ago because I needed to get one before college. When the nurse took my blood pressure she said:

100/59 … and asked if I exercised alot? I said yeah, cause I workout like every 3 days to stay in shape and play long, good games of pick up basketball and soccer daily for cardio.

But on this blood pressure chart it says I’m way below minimum for each reading…

Just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about … Thanks

I guess u are anemic. Ask your school doctor about it. You can still improve it by having some vitamins.

  2. Rahul P says:

i think a low blood pressure is a good thing…it’s a sign that you are fit. i don’t know what the level is for being considered TOO low, but as long as you feel fine, you should be alright.

  3. Mary M says:

100/59 is perfect. You’re not too low. Don’t stress out.

  4. RN2B says:

That blood pressure reading is fine. Normal blood pressure ranges from 100-140 over 60-90.

  5. Lori says:

That’s a perfectly normal reading for an athletic 18 year old.
