is my blood pressure normal in pregnancy?

blood pressure miracle

xarah asked:

hey everybody im 36 and a half weeks pregnant, this is my 3rd pregnancy and with my 2 previous pregnancies i had preeclampsia and now im seeing floaters and having bad headaches and very dizzy and nauseous. so i bought one of those manual blood pressure monitors that the nurses use too cause i didnt trust my wrist one and as long as i stay in bed my blood pressure goes anywhere from 122/69 to 139/90 and the moment i get up to just wash some sippy cups or something small like that it goes all the way up to 164/110, the doctor wants me on bedrest but up till now it didnt seem that high, should i go see a doctor and tell him its worse or should i just wait for my next doctors appointment which is tuesday, in 5 days?
i forgot to add that when i go to the doctors my blood pressure is always normal, where as at home it goes up and down. so if i go in and its normal again hell just probably send me back home anyway, maybe not, i think he does believe i have a chance of having preeclampsia again since ive had it 2 times alreayd

A rise in blood pressure is normal in late pregnancy, even bordering on hypertension.

However, since you’re seeing visual disturbances and are getting a lot of headaches you really need to see your doctor and have a urine test for protein.

i would call your dr and tell them you are seeing spots and having headaches since you have had it before with 2 pregnancies. mine was always normal at the dr and toward the end, it would go up there and if i was laying on my side, it would rise. def. call

Always see your doctor immediatly if you have a change in blood pressure. My doctor always told me that if the bottom number goes up during pregnancy that is a sign of preeclampsia.

Tell your doctor ASAP that you are worried and for now stay in bed! If your blood pressure rises that much with just a little movement then you should be on complete bedrest.

I did the same thing around 37 weeks with my daughter. My blood pressure STAYED 120/80 and under the entire pregnancy. However, when they checked it at one visit it was extremely high and they told me to start checking it frequently. It didn’t matter if I laid on my left side for 20 mintues and then took it again..or if it was first thing in the morning.. it would be EXTREMELY high. I made it until my due date thankfully.. but they just told me to keep a close watch on it because that’s really normal when you start getting close to the end. Good luck and God bless you!!

When I was in my last month of pregnancy I was the same way. As long as I was resting my blood pressure was fine but as soon I got up it also went up. At the Dr. they would test me after I’d been sitting for a bit so it looked fine. Once we figured that out they’d test me after walking and it was high. So we knew I was preeclamptic. They continued to watch me closely until protein showed up in my urine- at that point they induced labor (39 weeks).
I’d just let the Dr. know the status of your blood pressure. GIve him/her a call and see if you should come in for some additional tests.
