A question asked by goon: Is a 120/60 systolic-diastolic blood pressure reading bad for a 16 year old?
I’m 16 years old, and have a 120/60 blood pressure reading. I play ball, workout, swim, and keep in shape, yet I am worried about my blood pressure. Is it unhealthy for someone my age and what should I take from these numbers?

I’ve always understood 120/80 to be the ideal BP. 120/60 sounds find to me. If you’re really concerned, have your parents book an appointment with your family doctor. However it doesn’t sound like you should be losing any sleep over it. I wish I had similar readings. Then I could get rid of the stupid pills I have to take each morning.
it looks fine if we consider your systolic and diastolic blood pressure separately. 120 is the uppermost limit for normal SBP, while 60 is the lowermost limit for normal DBP. however, this makes your pulse pressure (SBP-DBP) to be 60 mmHg, which is quite high (normal: 30-40mmHg). when do you record this BP? is it after a workout? if it so, this can be normal because in an aerobically active athlete, the SBP will continue to increase while DBP kept falling, leaving a high pulse pressure. it should be back to normal in 10 minutes time. what about your pulse rate (normal: 60-100 beats/min)? do you check it too? if you have bradycardia or low pulse rate (<60bpm) + high pulse pressure = increased intracranial pressure.
normal and dnt worry, relax
perfect BP!
keep being active and do not worry!
