Hypertension , for how long ?

blood pressure miracle

Andres asked:

Hypertension is defined as a sustained increase in blood pressure.
Hypotension is defined as a sustained decrease in blood pressure.
my question is how high and how low does your blood pressure have to become for it to be diagnosed as hyper or hypo tension, and for how long does this new sustained pressure have to occur for?

Most often a person is asked to record their blood pressure at about the same time over the course of 7-10 days. If at that time it has remained elevated they are considered to have high blood pressure.
