There is a chance of excessive bleeding during the surgery and pin insertion. Moreover the blood may still ooze after bandaging the wound due the high pressure of blood.Better to get her BP to normal with medicines and then to go ahead with the surgery.Wish ur mom speedy recovery!

Sorry to hear about her injury. One of my kids dislocated the bones above their ankle in September. Had to stay off of it totally for 3 months to give the ligaments a chance to heal. They are just now getting back to being able to drive.
As long as the surgeon and the anesthesiologist <> know about her high blood pressure, they will make sure that it does not interfere. There are many medications that can reduce high blood pressure.
MAKE SURE that they both know. That is information that should always be provided to doctors so they can take it into account for any treatment.
Before you mom goes into surgery, you can be sure that her blood pressure will be taken multiple times by the nursing staff.
Good luck to her.
