    It depends on what you consider too low. Many people can function very well with low blood pressures. If it gives you severe dizziness or fainting, then it needs to be treated. With high blood pressure, you can get dizziness and headaches and if left untreated, can lead to strokes which can cause permanent damage to your brain and body. And, untreated high blood pressure causes damage to the lining of your vessels which cannot be repaired. High blood pressure always needs treated to prevent future damage. Normal blood pressure should be UNDER 120/80.

    Low blood pressure can cause strokes just as high blood pressure can do. If you have plaque in your carotid arteries, you are likely to have a stroke, as blood cannot reach your brain. Though the strokes tend to be in a small series, causing damage over a few days, rather than minutes. If you have high blood pressure and receive blood thinners while having plaque buildup, this is likely to happen.
