Blood pressure during pregnancy?

blood pressure miracle

paper flower asked:

I am 34 weeks 3 days along and yesterday at my prenatal my dr. took my blood pressure and it was a bit high and she took it again and it had gone down some… she told me to come back in a week so she could check it again because at the appt before this she took my bp three times before getting a low one….

I’ve been monitoring my resting blood pressure at home and just now I took it on my right arm and then my left…. the right arm gave a reading of 126/81 and my left 113/60…. that seems like a drastic difference for the tests being like a minute apart… my blood pressure seems to be EVERYWHERE when I do take it…. are those readings too high for a resting bp?

Also, silly question, but could a bra that is not supportive enough contribute to a high bp? And how in the world can I avoid stress? My husband is job-hunting and funds are getting low and on top of that my 18 year old brother is having major problems with my family =(
And I **** when housework goes undone…

thats BP you took your self is fine. Actaully it can vary. If you take it on the same over and over its not accurate. Any stress relates to your BP and it can change drastically minute to minute but as far as those two readings they are both perfectly fine.

i dont really know the figures when it comes to blood pressure, but mine was high at the end of my pregnancy and the doc told me to relax or else i would end up in hospital. Like you, i could not relax and the house needed cleaning and i had to do groceries, etc…….. the next day i was in hospital. So if you dont want to end up i hospital, listen to your doctor and chill. You might **** the house work being undone but, if you are in hospital it still will be undone, so… you may as well ignore it and get as much rest as you can before baby comes.

As far as dealing with stress, maybe you should try to find a free or low cost mind and body workshop which can help you relax and find ways to stay calm in stressful situations. Counting down from 10 usually helps me take time to put things into perspecitive.

Your bra isn’t helping, but it shouldn’t be causing your high BP readings. You should always have a well supported bra, though, since it can lead to back problems and drooping later on.

Did you take your left arm first and then your right arm? You should wait 10 mins between taking blood pressures, since just after taking it once, your BP temporarily rises. Your L arm is fine, but your R arm is a little high. Wait a few minutes longer before taking each arm’s BP. Those readings aren’t that high for a resting BP.

Trust your doctor. Your BP will fluctuate and you will not get an accurate reading if you take it over and over.
