Blood Pressure?

blood pressure miracle

Private asked:

1) Does everyone’s heat create the same pressure? Why?
2) Why is it important to place your arm in a horizontal position rather than letting it hang at your side when you take your blood pressure?
I meant this for question number one:

1) Does everyone’s heart create the same pressure? Why or why not?
We have to share our data with the class at school and I need to know what should be the control variables?

you want it level with your hart for best reading,

I assume you mean “heart” instead of heat.
No, everyone’s heart is different, and each person’s heart behaves differently under different circumstances. Blood pressure is determined not only by the force of contraction of the heart muscle, but also by the tone of the arterial system. When you stretch a heart muscle fiber more, it contracts more. To get the details on that, take a course in physiology.

As for BP readings, if the arm is hanging at the side, the pressure will be higher than if the arm is held at heart level. See this:

Pangolin is absolutely right on the money.
The only thing I would add is that not everyone has the same size heart, so the pressure can be different.
My BP runs a little higher than normal, but is not such a concern because I have a large heart and am a big guy…not fat. Just 6′ 4″ and 212lbs
