A question from Roland: Why the store blood pressure monitor gives different readings than mine at home?
Today before leaving for work my BP monitor Omrom HEM 780 gave me 145/97 , I went to the store and it gave me 148/105 which is very high , which one I should trust? The Omron has 498 readings , 4 stars at 5 on Amazon.
PS: Also I wait only 2 minutes before taking the reading at the store

Store readings are notoriously off just because of the distractions (noise) around plus your position, and overinflation.
The proper way to measure bp is at home, in a quiet room, with no coffee, no strenous exercise, while sitting quietly. I would trust that reading over any drug store reading

There really isn’t much of a difference between the 2 readings while one can expect a store reading or doctors office reading to be slightly higher because they’re not ideal settings both measurements are considered hypertension as they’re both over 140/90. Now if there was a significant difference between the 2 measurements then you have the potential for misdiagnosis. Wiki has a good section about the diagnosis of hypertension and measurement of blood pressure and on what perceived ideal settings are feel free to give it a read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertension
Any blood pressure reading is nothing but a “snapshot” of a continuously changing system.Monitor your blood pressure at home and at the same time of day every day. Only by tracking trends can your doctor prescribe properly for you. Otherwise all they have to go on is one reading which could have been affected by a hundred factors. God bless you and keep you healthy.
