A question from freshnfuzzy: Why is my blood pressure normal when I wake up in the morning, but high at the end of the day?
I’ve been borderline hypertensive for some time. My doctor has put me on blood pressure medicine just recently. I bought a home blood pressure monitor, and in the morning my blood pressure is normal, but after work, at the end of the day, it is sky high?

First thing in the morning, you are rested and just starting your day. As the day goes on, you encounter stress & that will back your bp go up.
I have low pb, but as soon as I walk into the doc’s office…it goes way up because any doc’s office stresses me out.

Could be different things making your blood pressure being high, eating alot of salt, stress at work, worrying, just different thing, smoking will make it high too. Your dr may need to adjust your blood pressure meds, just take your reading to him, at least 3 to 4 reading a day. Good luck and take care of that blood pressure because that could lead to serious problems down the road, heart trouble and even death.
It might be due to stress, and also due to what you may be eating. It could be because of Caffeine and/or Sodium. Teas and many sodas have a high amount of Caffeine. Most fast foods have lots of sodium.
Coming off a night of sleep is most likely the cause of your lower blood pressure in the morning. Throughout the day, when you are moving around and doing whatever it is that you do during a day, your BP rises.
what you eat and drink may raise it
if it is humid out side
how much exercise matters also
no salts use dash,no caffiene
eat right and loss wt if needed
Are you resting adequately at the end of the day prior to taking your blood pressure?
See http://www.smart-heart-living.com/high-blood-pressure.html for advice on taking blood pressure readings. There is also a very handy – and free – BP log you can download to help you keep track of your readings.
Hope this helps… good luck!
It may be stress, or you may not get enough liquids during the day. Your blood thickens and is harder to pump if you are dehydrated.
