A question from beenthroughit: How do you use a wrist blood pressure monitor to get an accurate reading?
I have slightly high blood pressure and I am trying to measure it at home. My wife bought me a wristech wrist bp monitor but I’m not sure where to position my wrist to get an accurate reading.

you put it on like a watch but it needs to go on the underside of the wrist and then you have to sit quietly…no talking or moving around…to get an accurate reading. also be sure you use the same wrist each time you take a reading so then you can compare the results. but remember that blood pressures naturally fluctuate a little throughout the day.

I owned one, once. Found out from my doctor that their not that reliable. Sure enough , took it to his office and he compared his arm cuff reading to the wrist band and it was way off. Also, the closer to your heart the better the reading. And poor circulation in your extremities the less accurate.
They may work for some folks, but I was never able to get consistent results. Thank your wife for her good intentions and buy or borrow a reputable brand arm cuff model to see if it works better for you.
Best of luck!
