Shak asked:

I m an athlet and hit the gym, quit smoking and leading healthy life with healthy food. i been monitoring my blood pressure last coupld of days with this bp monitor which gives me reading
227/171 pulse 103 and sometime 245/185 pulse 81, sometime 176/116 pulse 108.
these readings were taken while i was resting in the after noon or before going to sleep. i feel fantastic. i am keen to join the army they found protein in my urine so i had to do all these expensive tests. they found ultrasound on my kidney quite fine. by blood is good, no diabetics everything else is perfect. doctor prescribed me coversyl 2.5 mg….i did take that for one month. i did not feel any different. WHATS GOING ON?….the blood pressure monitor is i think is fine..coz i did measure my house mates which gives reading 137/98….

If you have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, you may not feel any symptoms. So it’s important to understand the causes of these conditions and the associated risks. This knowledge will help you in managing your conditions.

Blood pressure more than 220/125 or 200/120 mmHg is a medical emergency. Pulse rate more than 100 beats per minute is also abnormal.
Perindopril is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Perindopril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It makes blood flow more smoothly by preventing the production of certain natural chemicals that tighten the blood vessels.
    Consult a Cardiologist/ Nephrologist.
Please see the web pages for more details on Perindopril (generic name) Coversyl (brand name)

There is NO WAY your BP can be that high and you still be up walking around. Your machine is defective. Go to any red cross, fire department or ambulance service and have your BP taken. Go to a walk in clinic if you want to pay but I’m telling you it is NOT possible to have a BP of 245/185 and you feel just fine up walking around. Go get it checked somewhere else by a professional (EMT or Paramedic) some thing is wrong with your machine, believe me. I have taken tons of BP’s and I’m telling you your machine is defective. What reading did the army get for your BP??
