Beth Woold tells her nurisng students that it is important to monitor patient’s blood pressure when they are receiving verapamil ( a calcium channel blocker) Why?

Because verapamil is given to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). So, you would want to monitor the patient’s blood pressure to see if the drug is working, and/or to monitor them for hypotension (low blood pressure) from receiving the drug. For example, if you did not check their blood pressure before giving them the drug and their blood pressure was low, you would then decrease their blood pressure even more (hypotension).
