A question asked by Darla: Can nervousness be causing my high blood pressure?
I am a normal weight woman in her late 20s, exercising 5 times per week, who always has high blood pressure readings at the doctor’s office. I wore one of those 24 hour blood pressure monitoring systems – which made me nervous almost the entire day (whenever the cuff got tighter). My readings were high when I was awake, but completely normal when I was asleep (and not thinking about the whole thing). My doctor has recommended a low salt diet and more exercise. Could I be getting totally false readings whenever my blood pressure is taken?

well no, occasional high bp readings can happen when you are nervous, but not consistently,
i suggest you
take a low salt diet
exercise normal
if readings are not too high, get rid of the bp monitor for a week, so you have no reason to be nervous, take readings at diff times, you will have the correct picture.
