Are home blood pressure monitors accurate?

blood pressure miracle

Question posed by Roland: Are home blood pressure monitors accurate?
I just got a new home blood pressure monitor called Omron HM780, supposedly accurate. Now when I go to the store my readings are between 130/85 to 148/95 and when I get home my readings are between 115/70 to 132/85 WHAT SHOULD I TRUST?

Your blood pressure can change as much as 20 points up or down in just 10 minutes. Getting different readings at home or in the store does not mean the machines are no good.

Neither. You can stop by a fire department and they will take your bp free of charge. Manually is always best. Electronic may give you a wide ball park figure, but I have rarely seen them be accurate. In some cases, this inaccuracy can be dangerous.

there not i have one and it shows 140/80 pulse 80 and my doc told me 118/80 it’s best with a Professional and you gotta wait at least 15 min to do readings don’t do them every min stops blood flow. plus

I took my uncertain monitor to my doctor. She “calibrated (?)” it for me and proved that it was off. She ficed it. Try bringing it to your docs office.

Make sure you are relaxed every time before you take it.
