How can I lower my blood pressure?

tanya asked:
I never try those blood pressure monitors you see in public, but yesterday I was curious and tried it. According to the machine I have prehypertension! I found the following suggestion to lower my pressure: A low-fat, low-sodium, high potassium diet is recommended, along with increasing physical activity to at least thirty minutes a day most days of the week, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol, and maintaining a healthy weight. Weight loss, exercise and other healthy lifestyle changes can often control prehypertension.

I’m 38, eat only healthy foods (rice & beans, fish, veggies, no meat or junk food, lots of water or juice), don’t smoke, almost never drink, I walk 30 minutes for lunch every day, and walk an hour or so after work. I’ve lost 8 lbs of flab as a result. What more can I do? Is stress a factor? I’m under a LOT stress lately.
My boyfriend has high blood pressure, what can I do to help?

Britney asked:
He went to the doctors recently and they told him he had high blood pressure. He’s passed out because of it before but now they’re saying its just a little high and it’s nothing to be concerned about. I really want to help him out because he’s a very active person, he’s played basketball most of his life. He doesn’t really drink or smoke. I mean he means a lot to me and I kind of want to help him solve his blood pressure problems. Is there anything as his girlfriend I can do for him?
