I have a at home monitor I gotbecause I was worried about my Blood pressure, I was taking a drug for depression Cymbalta and started having higher then normal Blood pressure readings. My normal has always been 120/80 or close to. Since then I stopped taking Cymbalta for about 3 or 4 months now. I use the monitor but it still seems high. When is the best times to check it, and how often to get a accurate blood pressure reading? I was running around with my husband outside came in and it was 151/87 that is really high right? But my moms says you can not check it after exercising like that. So maybe thats what it is. or after eating right? I keep having these headaches in the back of my head! If I am running around outside, I can not figure out if its my blood pressure or my sinuses as I have constant problems with my sinuses. It is ont he sides like on the temples and in the back of my head, sometimes on the top??? Any Ideas?
When should you check your Blood Pressure?

Choosing A Blood Pressure Monitor
Your doctor may suggest that you monitor your blood pressure at home if it is either to high or low. This will help specify if there are any serious problems going on and if your medication is working properly. Until your blood pressure is regulated, you should check it once in the morning and again in the evening. Make sure you sit down and rest your arm against a solid surface. Also, you should follow all the instructions that come with your monitor and don’t forget to write down the date, time of day and your readings. There are some machines that have a memory area where you can record your readings. When choosing a monitor, the best choice would be one that fits your needs. The cuff size is important because if it doesn’t fit properly the blood pressure readings won’t be accurate. The size you need depends on the size of your arm. The standard cuff is suitable for most people but if you have large or small arms you’ll probably need a large or small size cuff. Your doctor, nurse or pharmacist can tell you what your correct size is.
One type of monitor is called the aneroid monitor. It is convenient because you can take it wherever you go. Squeezing a rubber bulb by hand will expand the cuff. A dial gauge with a pointer is where you’ll see your reading. Since the stethoscope is already built into the monitor there is no need to buy one. There are a few disadvantages to this type of monitor. There should be a metal ring or the cuff could be hard to put on. Some people might have trouble squeezing the rubber bulb. If you have problems hearing, you might be difficult to listen to the heart sounds clearly though the stethoscope.
Another blood pressure monitor is the digital. A lot of people like this monitor because it is easy to use. Your blood pressure reading is displayed on a screen. There are some digital monitors that are electric and will print out your reading on paper. Certain models have a cuff that is automatically inflated. The downside of a digital monitor is accuracy can be affected if you move your body or if you have problems with irregular heartbeats. You’ll also need batteries in order for it to work. The price range can be a little steep for some digital monitors.
When you use any kind of monitor, it needs to be checked for accuracy. Take it with you when you visit your doctor and ask him to check it for you. Also, ask him questions to make sure your using the monitor correctly. Let the doctor or a nurse watch you use it. You should wait about an hour after you wake up to take your blood pressure. If you exercise in the morning then take your blood pressure first. Make sure you’re relaxed and comfortably seated with your back against the chair. Use the same arm every day. Don’t smoke, drink alcohol, eat and stay away from caffeine for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement.

Choosing Digital Blood Pressure Monitors
Ring, Ring Ring! The bell rings and it is all helter skelter, first I have to prepare the kids to go to school then I have to have my husbands’ breakfast ready then to prepare myself and finally I am off to work. In the office things aren’t any different for I have to arrange meetings for the boss, balance the pending balance sheets, and carry out other many activities before the day ends. Tell me that with all this I wouldn’t have a nervous break down and the amazing thing is that I haven’t gone for a blood pressure test.
My working counterpart suggested to me that with my very tight schedule I should consider getting a digital blood pressure monitor which might save my life in one of these fine days. I thought about his idea and to my surprise I agreed with him even though we don’t seam to agree on anything. So I went hunting for a convenient monitor in the stores that I considered to be appropriate. I discovered that there were a variety of monitors in the stores there are the physically managed and which opens up to expose a U-tube with mercury in it and aneroid is its medical name. There is also another one which requires a certain level of proficiency.
The digital blood pressure monitors come with standard size cuffs which most people use and which guarantees accurate reading. However, some people have very thin or very large arms and a standard size cuff may produce inaccurate readings. Most of these machines come with a standard cuff but one can buy larger or smaller cuffs from suppliers. Digital blood pressure monitor comes with a with a comprehensive instruction leaflet on how to maintain the monitor so as to guarantee that it operates effectively.

Can fever cause hypertension?
Being quite sick recently, I had a fever of 40.8.
I was wondering if what I was told is true, that high fever can cause high blood pressure, and in turn cause severe nosebleeds, as I was standing over the sink for around ten minutes at a time, sometimes up to three times a day, with blood pouring out of my nose, while I was sick…
I just got diagnosed with hypertension thyroid and put on heart med to slow my heart down?
Getting pregnant with diabetes and hypertension?
I currently am on medication for diabetes (type 2) and hypertension and would like to get pregnant. I have not yet discussed this with my doctor as I’m not quite ready. I am watching my diet and have my other numbers under control. Is there anyone else out there who is treating their hypertension and diabetes and has become or is pregnant? I would like to get some information from someone who has been through it before before I go and see my physician. I have two other children that are older and I didn’t have those conditions when I was pregnant with them.
I’m not going to do anything without going through my OB or regular doctor first. All I am looking for is advice from someone who has the same situation as I do and can tell me what questions to ask and to a certain extent what are some things I can expect and perhaps some risks their OB told them might occur.
Kidney Dialysis, diarhhea, low blood pressure and fatigue?
My friends father has “Focal Segmental Glomular sclerosis” and he has low blood pressure frequently when he is done with dialysis although they continue to give him 200mg of metoprolol and lisinopril every day. He also has chronic fatigue and diarhhea. His elecrolytes are being monitored from time to time per my mother but he is so tired. He has been on dialysis for 3 1/2 years now. Is diarhhea normal for dialysis patients?
Preeclampsia Problems With out high Blood Pressure, should i go to L& D?
I looked at other answers about preeclampsi but didn’t find an answer for my specific question. So If anyone can help please let me know a.s.a.p..
I am 37 weeks pregnant and was in to see the Dr. last thursday, ended up having an ultra sound, blood work and fetal monitoring done because my blood pressure was higher then normal, I was seeing spots for some time, I had swollen feet and legs and I had protein in my urine. Well all the tests came back fine and the b/p dropped about 1-2 hrs later. Now 3 days later and my feet are more swollen then they were and are also feeling numb and i have had them up for 2 days for as much as I can. I am getting nausea on and off, I feel like crap all around,my hands are sweling slightly and i am extremely hungry(like more then normal no matter what I eat). But my b/p is fine i have been checking it, and i still feel the baby moving. So should i go into L & D or wait tell my next appt on thursday 4-days from now? I know this is a serious condition but since my blood pressure is fine should i be extremely concerned or just stay off my feet as much as possible like I have been?
still no changes, baby is moving less but said to be expected because of being 37 almost 38 weeks is that true?
