My mother just had a stroke, and she is a diabetic, the stroke was caused from high blood pressure/cholesterol….now she’s home and has already asked to speak with a dietician but is unable to get in for a week, where can i find a list of foods that she should avoid, and foods that she can eat?? any good websites for this particular diet?

I have a pretty stressful lifestyle–I work, go to college, just got married, have a 15 year old son. I had a migraine the day I went to the dr so I thought that might have raised it some. (I have had migraines regularly for the last 10 years.) My bp last night was 145/104, which is the highest it has been. I have a doctor’s appointment next week to get everything checked out. My question is this: I know that measurement is high, but how high is it? What number is dangerously high? Will this probably mean I have to take meds to control it? My mom’s side of the family has lots of high bp & heart disease. My mom died of heart disease at 57 yoa. Thanks for your input!

It is Sunday afternoon where i live and i can’t get hold of any doctors in my town.
I do not want to go to the Hospital today!

Please advise best home remedies to bring my Blood Pressure down.
My nose was bleeding non stop this morning and i know it is related .
My pressure was 220/181 which is very high.
I am not on any medication .
Do you think i would be allright if i waited for my doctor till tomorrow morning?

My nose has stoped bleeding!

I am a good deal overweight but I don’t eat terribly, but it is an area that I could work on. Today I measured my blood pressure with a monitor, and at first it was 158/102 which is very high. I was told to relax for at least 10 minutes before taking it, so I put on really relaxing music and laid down for 10 minutes and then measured while listening to my music. My blood pressure came all the way down to 138/93, which isn’t good but much better for only 10 minutes of relaxing. Does this show my blood pressure may be mostly related to being overstressed?

Acceptable as long as your blood pressure is below 180 systolic (first number) and below 100 diastolic (second number) at the time of donation. Medications for high blood pressure do not disqualify you from donating.

I have been monitoring my blood pressure/heart rate since I started taking medicine for my BP. My blood pressure has been averaging about 113/84 and my heart rate has been averaging about 119. I have an ovarian cyst which is causing me alot of pain so I think that is why my heart rate has been so high but this particular time I checked it I wasn’t feeling real well and I was pretty exhausted. It was 2am and I couldn’t sleep because of the pain. The dr has me taking 2 Lortabs (7.5) every 6 hours. I’m not use to taking this much medicine but I am hurting so bad I have been taking the pain medicine like the dr prescribed. Now I’m worried about this blood pressure. Is this like abnormally low? Is it dangerous low? Thanks for your help.
