Darlene G asked:
I have been taking Blood Pressure medication for two years now. I own TWO different models of blood pressure monitors at home, so that I can feel comfortable that the readings are accurate, and all of the time both of these monitors indicate almost identical readings, which one would think is a good thing. HOWEVER, I just got back from a new doctor, and the two readings in the doctor’s office were off the charts…. 168/100. However, my at-home readings are always good BP readings….in fact, when I got home from the doctor I took my BP reading on both of my home monitors, and guess what? They BOTH indicate readings which average 112/68. Now I know there is such a thing as “white-coat” readings at the doctor’s office, but no way my nerves shot my BP up that high. So my question is, are these at-home monitors totally useless?
